I began my business entertRaining those who resided in retirement villages. I found that a very contagious dis-ease, 'Psychosclerosis' (Hardening of the Attitudes) was very prevalent. This workshop became a means for people to rediscover their inner comic spirit, bring a little optimism into a very scary period of their lives, and help them form fellowships with those around them. This basic, yet entertaining workshop educates participants on the physiological and psychological reasons to keep laughing. Games are played to celebrate the humorous spirit and videos (optional) are used to energize minds. This workshop is a prerequisite for the following and warms up the environment thus creating an openness for further play.

Laughter: Taking the HOHOlistic Road to Health and Happiness

This presentation is a natural follow up for any group who has been introduced to the concept that laughter can cure terminal seriousness (and may even save lives!) More information and direction is given to participants to assist them in finding humor in our sometime stressful lives. Using humor and play, participants will:

• Be given information about scientific research in the areas of optimism and longevity
• Increase interpersonal skills through play
• Find happiness and support by building fellowship with other residents.
• Rediscover through laughter and play, that developing a playful attitude in life focuses them on the positive aspects of living.

While these two workshops may appear simplistic, I have seen wonderful joy as men and women were inspired by the activities and the chance to share their emotions. These workshops open the door to opportunities for residents to develop relationships and… LIVE.
